Character Info (WIP)
Born Robin John Blake to working-class parents in Gotham. His mother was killed in a car accident when he was a small child, and his father was murdered over a gambling debt a couple of years later. After that, he was shuffled around the foster care system for a while, but he had behavioral difficulties and anger issues so eventually ended up in a boys' home (which at the time was funded by the Wayne Foundation), where he remained through high school.
One of his few good memories from childhood was a visit paid to the home by Bruce Wayne himself, the eccentric billionaire. Blake was twelve at the time, but knew instantly what he was looking at - not just a fellow orphan, but someone who had dealt with the loss the same way he had - by creating a mask to hide behind. From that day, Blake knew what the rest of Gotham didn't - the identity of the Batman.
Blake managed to graduate high school, and immediately enrolled in the police training academy, hoping to help make the streets a little safer, keep fewer kids from having to grow up without their parents. The Batman was a symbol for him, and he never quite believed the story of what happened the night Harvey Dent was killed. He always believed in the Batman. Maybe it was childish idealism - or maybe it was because they were kindred spirits, of a sort.
When Gordon returned from the sewers with a story about a masked man with an army, no one believed him but Blake, and he knew exactly what needed to be done. It was time for the Batman to return to Gotham, and be the hero it needed once more.
